Pentair Big Blue Water Filters

Pentair Pentek RFFE20-BB Big Blue Water Filter is a 20-inch, whole house radial flow iron reduction replacement cartridge. This white filter greatly improves taste by effectively filtering up to 3 PPM of dissolved iron, eliminating metallic taste. Additionally, it prevents rust stains on sinks, toilets, and plumbing fixtures while also protecting appliances from damage caused by iron. It is specifically designed for well water and fits all 20" Big Blue Housing.

The RFFE20-BB filter is capable of replacing any 4.5" x 20" iron reducing filter and should be replaced every 3 months to maintain 3 PPM reduction for a family of four.

On the other hand, the Pentair Pentek DGD-5005-20 Big Blue Sediment Water Filter is a heavy duty dual-gradient density spun polypropylene replacement filter cartridge. It is a 20-inch filter cartridge with a 5-micron rating, ideal for whole house filtration. Manufactured from 100% pure polypropylene, this white filter is specifically designed for use with Pentair Pentek Big Blue Filter Housings and other heavy duty filter housings.

The DGD-5005-20 filter is known for its purity, as it does not impart any taste, odor, or color to the liquid being filtered. Its polypropylene construction provides superior chemical resistance and prevents bacterial attack. Moreover, it has an advanced design, which combines selective final filtration with appropriate pre-filtration to achieve up to three times the dirt holding capacity of similar-sized sediment cartridges. Compared to standard spun or string-wound cartridges, it has even greater capacity, thanks to its larger diameter that reduces the particle load and allows for higher velocities. The effective filter depth is also increased to a full 233%, resulting in high particulate reduction efficiencies and added loading capacity.

The DGD-5005-20 filter is an excellent choice for residential, rural, municipal, and commercial applications. It keeps water clean by removing dirt, sand, silt, and other particulates. It is NSF International tested and certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 42.

In terms of replacement frequency, the RFFE20-BB filter should be replaced every 3 months, while the DGD-5005-20 filter only needs to be replaced every 6 months. Both filters provide effective whole house filtration and contribute to maintaining clean, great-tasting water.
