Installing the whole house water filter is a simple process. Here are the steps:

1. Turn off the water supply and press the red pressure-relief button (if present).
2. Unscrew the housing and remove the large o-ring. Clean the o-ring and set it aside.
3. Discard the used filter cartridge and wash the housing with dish soap and warm water using a non-abrasive sponge or cloth. Rinse thoroughly. Fill 1/3 of the housing with water and add about 1 tablespoon of bleach. Scrub the housing to disinfect it and rinse thoroughly.
4. Lubricate the o-ring with clean silicone grease and insert it into the groove. Replace the o-ring if it is damaged.
5. Insert the new filter cartridge.
6. Screw the housing onto the cap and hand-tighten. Do not over tighten. Make sure the cap standpipe slips into the cartridge.
7. Turn on the water supply, press the pressure-relief button (if present), and check for any leaks before completing the installation.
